Game's 'R.E.D. Album' Snatches No. 1 From 'Watch the Throne'

Game's 'The R.E.D. Album' squeaked by 'Watch the Throne' with first week sales of 98,000, according to Billboard, followed by Jay and Kanye's album, at 94,000, making 'R.E.D.' Game's first No. 1 since his 2007 album, 'Doctor's Advocate.' Interestingly, though his last album 'LAX' sold an impressive 239,000 copies in its first week week back in 2008, that number was only good enough to secure the No. 2 slot.
Game's fourth effort will likely be surpassed next week by Wayne's 'IV', which is estimated to sell somewhere between 850,000 and 900,000 copies. Meanwhile, Tyler, The Creator's album 'Goblin' jumped 92 spots to No. 96, selling 4,100 for an auspicious total of 108,000, following his Best New Artist victory at the VMAs.

Gorgeous vintage inspired flower headbands for children

Lacking the blessing of any children of my own at this stage in my life - and not having any precious little nieces or nephews, or godchildren - I don't get to many occasions these days to dress kids. That doesn't stop me from swooning when I see adorable, beautiful, or otherwise intriguing kids clothes. After all, it's never too soon to bookmark favourite sites and sellers for future reference!
Like many people, I'm a sucker for a cute child ? pair said youngster with lovely clothing - and I pretty much go weak in the knees and want to dress them up from sunrise to sunset. One of my favourite trends in kid's accessories (a spill over from their popularity amongst adults, too) in the last few years has been fabulously gorgeous (fabric) flower adorned headbands.
While cruising etsy recently, I chanced upon an especially adorable photo of a darling child sporting a glamorously wonderful white floral headband. I love the styling of this shot from. From the looped 1920s-esque pearl necklaces that call to mind a pint sized flapper, to the gorgeous pale hued flower and feather headband.
Seriously, how darling is this little girl and her awesome vintage inspired headband? It features two rolled cream roses, a frayed chiffon flower, white feathers, a glistening rhinestone piece, and a tiny piece of veiling peaking out in the front. So charming, so timelessly sweet!
This headband (which is available for $20.00 from etsy seller Nana Rose Designs) would be perfect for any special little girl in your life.
With it's soft colour, elegant textures, and shabby chic vibe, I could see this working so fantastically for a wedding, christening, birthday party, Christmas, a family photo shoot - or really any day when you want your special little one to be especially sweetly accessorized.

A lovely look at the history of vintage swimwear

For various reasons (not being a jet-set millionaire definitely being one of them 
), it's been a long time - far longing than I care to admit, actually, since I last frolicked around at the beach.
Chalk it up to poor health, living away from bodies of water, and a hectic life. Yet, these excuses really don't seem to cut it any more. I miss swimming a great deal (I'm very allergic to chlorine, so I can't use chlorinated public pools and Toronto, to the best of my knowledge, does not have any public salt water pools unfortunately), and wish dearly that I could blink my eyes, tap my heels, and suddenly find myself on a tropic beach somewhere gorgeous, the ocean lapping at my ankles.
Alas though, as the fan whirls in my ear and the constant rush of city traffic roars past below my balcony, I know that such a dreamy vacation is just that, a dream for the time being. Nevertheless, even if (like me) you're not en route to the Caribbean, Mediterranean or Riviera right now, a gal can still have fun thinking about what kinds of vintage swimsuits she's wear to the beach if she was suddenly standing in the sand.
For a quick, yet thoroughly delightful overview of the history of swimsuits as they evolved through the first decades of the twentieth century to help bolster your vintage bathing suit inspiration file, be sure to check out one of Glamourdaze most recent Youtube videos, a look back at vintage swimwear.
The styles seen in this lovely clip run the gamut from gamine to vixen. Some are relatively modest, others full-on pin-up girl worthy beguiling, leaving just a hint to the imagination.
All, however, share in common the fact that they are beautiful, well-tailored, elegant, becoming, feminine, and marvellously appealing. Whether you prefer one pieces of the 1920s and 30s, or go gaga for flirty 40s two piece suits, these examples of yesteryear swimwear are exceedingly easy to swoon over.
As I sit here, the hours of another beach-less summer day ticking past, I can't help but feel refreshed by this wonderful vintage swimwear video, which has made me even more determined to get to the beach next summer!
Whether you're diving into the lake every day, just get a few hours at the each summer, or have your own backyard pool to splash around in any time you please, I hope that you enjoy this charming look back at the history of bathing ensembles as much as I did. Here?s to hoping we all make to the beach a whole lot sooner than later!

Golden Globe nominees, and stars of Mad Men, Jon Hamm, John Slattery and Elizabeth Moss, rock legend Marilyn Manson, supermodels Alessandra Ambrosio and Lydia Hearst and Transformers star Shia Labeouf enjoyed an exclusive evening of cutting edge entertainment from Proprietor and Artistic Director Simon Hammerstein to celebrate the partnership between Belvedere Vodka and (RED) and the sales launch of(BELVEDERE)RED Special Edition bottle to raise proceeds for the Global Fund, the world’s leading financier of programs to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in Africa.
The one night only event also saw MTV star Audrina Patridge, socialite Lindsay Lohan, actor Jesse Metcalfe, and Dancing with Stars choreographer Derek Hough toast the weekend with (BELVEDERE)RED cocktails which included Belvedere Breeze, Belvedere Heat, and Belvedere Gimlet. All guests enjoyed an evening of entertainment featuring the best of The Box performers from all over the world, providing a ‘magic hat’ of entertainment.

OMG, Charlotte Gainsbourg announces double album: 'Stage Whisper'
You know what they say? They say in order to keep up with the short attention spans of their Twitter followers, the pop stars of today must churn out new albums and star in new Lars von Trier movies every year to remind us that they continue to exist. Leading the way through the treacherous waters of the new mediascape is Charlotte Gainsbourg, who announced that her second album in two years, Stage Whisper, will be released on Nov. 7. Moreover, it's a double album to be preceded by an EP called Terrible Angels on Sept. 5.
According to NME, Stage Whisper is made up of live and unreleased studio tracks from her 2010 album IRM and includes collaborations with Beck, Noah And The Whale, Conor O'Brien of Villagers and Connan Mockasin. In other words, it's what the Arcade Fire's manager might dismiss as "a repackage." Lady Gaga might counter that the French star is merely "freshening up" her old material. Either way we plan on purchasing a physical copy of the album legally from an actual record store.

It's International Beer Day, cheers!

In the world of beverages, beer is not my favourite. However, that's not why I won't be drinking any today. Instead it's due to the fact that I'm not able to consume any alcohol at all due to medical reasons. Thus a sip of beer hasn't passed my lips in almost a decade.
Beer, however, has been (often in the form of ale) the drink of the people for centuries, beloved by everyone from college kids at spring break bashes to micro brew swigging connoisseurs, and when the sun is pelting down your neck during these dog days of summer, it can be precisely what one needs to beat the beat.
Beer's history is a rich one that's steeped in legend and fact, a bubbling mix of ideas that caught on and others that raise more eyebrows than they do blood alcohol levels. From the recent trend in flavoured beers (I've heard pumpkin beer is fantastic, but can't speak first hand) to the classic taste of hops, beer finds its way into nearly every country and the fridges of many, many households the world over.
Started four years ago in Santa Cruz, California, International Beer Day is centered around three points: to bring folks together to enjoy the refreshing flavour of a good beer, to honour those who brew and serve up beer, and to unite the world in a celebration of all the beers of each nation and culture.
It's obviously not a real holiday, and it's not a vintage related day, but what is old school is beer itself. For about as long as beverage companies have been placing ads in the public eye, beer has been in the lime (lime wedge? 
) light.
During the mid-twentieth century beer was amongst the most common beverages seen in print ads, and few companies at the time did a better job of promoting their product than Rheingold Beer.
Famous throughout North America for their Miss Rheingold Girls (attractive young women who were chosen to be the face of the company in print ads for a year at a time), between 1940 and 1965, these lovely lasses helped peddle Rheingold's drinks to the nation.
Though Rheingold's popularity diminished as the century wore on and the Rheingold Girls disappeared from the public's eye, today the ads of this once highly popular beer company make for some of the most charming and attractive vintage alcoholic beverage advertisements of the day.
So while I won't be polishing off a cold, foamy pint today myself, I will be looking through some of my favourite Rheingold Beer ads (like the beautiful one above from 1955, which comes by way of curly-whirly on Flickr) in celebration of the undeniable role that beer has long held in our culture.
Whether you're busting out the bottle opener or joining me in a less carbonated celebration of ale, cheers and happy International Beer Day, everyone!
